Swimming

France is a great country for natural swimming in rivers and lakes.

At Aubeterre-sur Dronne there is a sandy beach and diving board if you wish to plunge into the River Dronne. A bar and café are also available. If you wish to stay dry while you explore the Dronne, canoes are available to hire.

St Aulaye also has a beach with bar / restaurant. Just across the road from the beach is a high ropes course if you fancy an adrenaline rush.

Lac Jemaye is surrounded by woodland paths for easy walking in the shade. For sun lovers it has a lovely lakeside beach area that is protected by life guards during the peak season. You can cool off in the shallows or swim out to deeper waters all within sight of the life guards. If you wish to explore the lake, kayaks are available at no charge. The beachfront area has a bar and beachside café. If you prefer, you can readily find a shady area under the trees to relax and enjoy your own picnic. An infant’s and children’s play area will burn off some energy and build up an appetite.

A more formal outdoor waterpark can be found at Parcoul which has water slides and flumes. Indoor Pool Complexes are at Angouleme and Jonzac.
